In the heart of Rosh Pina is the bustling dairy restaurant Rene, serving great coffee throughout the day, making it a popular haunt with the locals.
Rene sits proudly on the corner of Ma'ale Gei at the foot of the town and with a reputation of serving good, fresh dairy food, this high class café has a continuous stream of customers throughout the day.
There is an extensive array of salads on the menu which are large enough to share. The house salad 'Salad Rene' is exceedingly popular, chargrilled vegetables, mushrooms and haloumi all piled high on a well dressed bed of lettuce, served with fresh wholemeal bread and butter.
As no meat is served in Rene, their creamy desserts are a must. Not being able to resist a plate full of blintzes, I can highly recommend Rene's.....soft, creamy, sweetened cheese with plump raisins fill the perfectly cooked warm crepes, served with a dusting of icing sugar and a scoop of cold vanilla ice cream.
The staff at Rene's are friendly and polite, but have a tendency to be a touch slow during their busy times, but with a lively atmosphere, fresh, unpretentious food at reasonable prices, you would be hard pushed not to find an excuse to pop in, if only to a decent cup of coffee on route up north.....
